A. The Sternoclavicular joint is the articulation between the sternum and the clavicle
- site where most movements of the shoulder girdle occur
- its an articulation between the subscapular fossa of the scapula and the thoracic wall
- it stabilizes the shoulder region during lifting
- facilitates overhead movements
- shoulder abduction is when this movement is most noticeable
- actually known as the "Shoulder joint"
- has the greatest range of motion in the body
- lacks bony and ligamentous support
- one of the most dislocated joints in the body
